Three German performance wagons still own this enthusiast shopping list: Audi RS 6 Avant performance, BMW M5 Touring, Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID Wagon. Same long-roof brief. Very different stickers. Here is the U.S. OEM math without the brochure fog.

Money on the window
Audi USA lists the 2026 RS 6 Avant performance from $130,700.
BMW USA lists the M5 Touring from $125,300.
Mercedes-Benz USA prices the AMG E 53 HYBRID Wagon from $93,350, excluding destination ($1,150 per the Sep 11, 2025 pricing release).
Line them up and the AMG undercuts both V8 wagons by a wide margin. The BMW sits about $5,400 under the Audi. Destination, taxes, and options are not in those numbers — check the build you actually order.

Power and pace
The RS 6 Avant performance is the gas-only twin-turbo V8: 621 hp, 627 lb-ft, 8-speed Tiptronic. Audi’s 0–60 claim: 3.3 seconds.
BMW’s M5 Touring is the plug-in hybrid V8 — combined 717 hp and 738 lb-ft. BMW’s 0–60 claim: 3.5 seconds. BMW USA pegs all-electric driving at up to about 24 miles.
Mercedes-AMG’s E 53 HYBRID Wagon pairs an AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo with a 120 kW electric motor. Combined output is 577 hp and 553 lb-ft; with optional RACE START (AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package) that peaks at 604 hp. Published 0–60: 4.0 seconds, or 3.8 with RACE START. EPA all-electric range: up to 41 miles.
OEM 0–60 sheet: RS 6 is the quickest claim. Peak combined horsepower: M5 Touring owns the table. The AMG trades absolute sprint for the lowest sticker and the longest listed EV range here.

Daily usability and hybrid quirks
BMW’s M5 Touring uses M xDrive. The AMG wagon is AMG Performance 4MATIC+. Both are PHEVs with a real plug-in brief; the RS 6 stays the pure gas V8 — no EV miles, no charge cable.
Mercedes publishes cargo on the model page: 33.1–64.6 cu ft. Official U.S. pages cited below do not put a clean cargo table for the RS 6 Avant performance and M5 Touring on one card, so those numbers stay off this comparison rather than guessed from secondary roundups.
Hybrid range split: BMW USA says up to about 24 electric miles; Mercedes’ pricing release and model page put EPA EV range at up to 41 miles, with AC charging listed at 9.6 kW.
Who should buy which
Take the Audi RS 6 Avant performance if you want the twin-turbo V8 without a plug, the quickest published 0–60 in this set, and the classic RS Avant brief at $130,700.
Take the BMW M5 Touring if 717 hp combined and the M Hybrid V8 story matter more than the absolute lowest sticker — still under the Audi at $125,300 starting.
Take the Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID Wagon if the $93,350 door, up to 41 miles of EPA EV range, and the inline-6 hybrid brief win — knowing the published 0–60 trails the two V8 wagons.
Prices exclude destination (except where noted), taxes, and options. Specs are manufacturer claims for comparison; verify the build you actually order.
