Three compact German crossovers still own this segment’s shopping list: Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC. Same five seats. Same dealer-row fight. Here is the 2026 U.S. sticker math without the brochure fog.

Money on the window
Audi USA lists the 2026 Q5 from $52,800. Quattro is standard. Want the coupe-roof cut? The Sportback opens at $55,100. The SQ5 starts at $65,400.
BMW undercuts the volume Audi by a little. The 2026 X3 30 xDrive starts at $51,300. The X3 M50 xDrive jumps to $66,500.
Mercedes opens the set. The 2026 GLC 300 SUV is $49,550; GLC 300 4MATIC is $51,550. Plug-in GLC 350e 4MATIC: $60,300. AMG GLC 43: $67,550.
Line up the AWD peers and the Q5 sits about $1,500 over the X3 30 xDrive and about $1,250 over the GLC 300 4MATIC. Mercedes still owns the cheap seat if you can live with rear-drive on the base GLC 300.

Power and pace
The 2026 Q5’s turbo four is 268 hp and 295 lb-ft. Audi’s 0–60 claim: 5.8 seconds. Gearbox is a 7-speed S tronic. Quattro is not an options code.
SQ5 is the Audi ceiling here: twin-scroll turbo V6, 362 hp, 406 lb-ft, 0–60 in 4.6 seconds, quattro, 7-speed S tronic, Sport adaptive air suspension standard.
BMW’s X3 30 xDrive is 255 hp, 0–60 in 6.0 seconds. The M50 is the sprint car — 393 hp, 0–60 in 4.4 seconds.
Mercedes matches the BMW base four on paper: 255 hp, 295 lb-ft. GLC 300 SUV 0–60: 5.9 seconds; 4MATIC: 6.0. The 350e’s combined output is 313 hp. AMG GLC 43: 416 hp, 0–60 in 4.7 seconds.
Volume cars: Q5 is the quickest claimed four in this trio. Halo cars: the X3 M50 edges the SQ5 and the GLC 43 on the published 0–60 sheet.

What you get as standard
Audi’s volume Q5 ships with quattro, the 7-speed S tronic, a 14.5-inch MMI touch display, and an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit. Adaptive air suspension is available on the Q5; it is standard on the SQ5.
BMW’s X3 30 xDrive is AWD from the jump and leans on the curved display stack. Exact U.S. standard-vs-option screens still move with packages — check the build page before you sign.
Mercedes splits the driveway: rear-drive GLC 300 for the lowest sticker, 4MATIC when winter traction is non-negotiable. The 350e is the plug-in path; the AMG 43 is the performance badge.
The official U.S. overview and build pages cited below do not publish a clean cargo-cubic-feet or towing table for all three on one card. Those numbers stay off this comparison rather than guessed from secondary roundups.
Who should buy which
Take the Audi Q5 if standard quattro, the dual-screen MMI/virtual-cockpit layout, and the quickest claimed volume 0–60 matter more than the absolute lowest MSRP. Step to the SQ5 for the V6 and air suspension without leaving the four rings.
Take the BMW X3 if you want the $51,300 AWD door — or the M50’s 393 hp if the brief is simply the fastest German compact crossover on this sheet.
Take the Mercedes GLC if the entry sticker wins and you are fine starting rear-drive, or if you specifically need the 350e plug-in or the AMG 43 badge.
Prices exclude destination, taxes, and options. Specs are manufacturer claims for comparison; verify the build you actually order.
